“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where,” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
Life today often feels like the topsy-turvy world of Alice in Wonderland. Still, whether at home or through the looking glass, you won’t get anywhere without first knowing where you want to go and then having a plan for getting there.
Now that you’ve completed an evaluation of the 5 Key Areas of your life and have selected target goals for two years from now, it’s time to create a simple plan for pursuing them.
INTERIM STEPS TO SUCCESS
Building a plan for Improving Your Balance begins with an easy step. Now that you’ve envisioned a “10” in each key area, ask yourself, “To reach 10 in two years, where do I need to be a year from now?” Write it down.
Let’s stay with the physical example. If one of your “10’s” is to lose 30 pounds in two years, then you need to be near 15 pounds lost in one year. You need to have changed some things in your diet. Maybe water takes the place of soft drinks. Maybe portions are reduced. Make these simple, manageable steps.
Now, if you need to be at 15 pounds lost in a year, where do you need to be in six months? You got it! Seven and half pounds. How about three months? One month? And to get started, what do I do this week?
To Do Today
Now we’ve come to what you can do today, to reach a “10” in one key area. Lose a little more than one pound this month.
I know what you’re thinking. “One pound? I can do that!” Of course, you can! One small step at a time in each of the 5 Key Areas. Looking two years down the road, but doing something critical today . . . executing your plan. Be prepared to feel great about your action and progress.
